The 4-C EDA continues to be a great economic development resource for our region and I look forward to continuing our work together to create additional jobs and economic development opportunities in Fayette, Nicholas, Raleigh and Summers Counties. Welcome to Nicholas County...

Nicholas County, with a population of 26,137, is the 24th largest county in West Virginia.  The City of Summersville is the county seat and largest city in the county.

Nicholas County is home to Summersville Lake, recognized as the cleanest and clearest freshwater lake east of the Mississippi River. The lake doesn't just offer spectacular opportunities for motor boat sports, it also fosters lakeside rock climbing, scenic fishing and lake kayak trips, and is surrounded by a system of mountain bike trails. The lake is the source for the world famous Gauley River. Ranked as one of the top five whitewater rafting trips in the world, the Gauley River offers a variety of whitewater trips all summer long.

Gauley Season ends in the Fall with a big bang of six weekends of high flow release and the

Gauley Fest festivities.  Hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, climbing and more: there's no end to

Nicholas County's adventure opportunities.

The historic cities of Summersville and Richwood are located in Nicholas County.
