Raleigh County, with a population of 79,357, is the 6th largest county in the state.  The City of Beckley is the county seat and largest municipality.  The county is a transportation gateway for the New River Gorge Region and provides a convenient commercial airport offering daily flights to Washington, DC.  It also serves as a hub of commerce in southern West Virginia.

Raleigh County boasts Grandview National Park.  From mild but spectacular hiking, to extreme whitewater kayaking and mountain biking, the park offers a variety of adventure outlets.  It is also home to Theatre West Virginia, outdoor dramas presented under the stars for nearly one-half century.  Burning Rock Off-Road Park is the hottest off road destination in southern West Virginia.  Get your permit, visit the gear shop and head for the trailhead for an unforgettable ride.

Raleigh County is also home to Tamarack:  The Best of West Virginia, a one of a kind arts and culture facility featuring only West Virginia made products, food, music, theatre and art gallery .  And finally, the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine will take you back in time to when coal was mined with a pick and shovel.
